Defining Speedway

Speedway racing is a high-speed motorsport where riders compete on motorcycles around an oval dirt track. The sport follows a set of key rules to ensure fairness and safety.

1. Motorcycle and Gear
Speedway bikes are lightweight, have no brakes, and run on methanol. Riders must wear helmets, gloves, body armor, and boots for protection.

2. Track and Race Format
Races take place on tracks between 260-425 meters long, lasting about 60-90 seconds. Each meeting consists of multiple heats, with 4 riders per heat.

3. Points System
Riders earn points based on their finishing position: 1st place gets 3 points, 2nd gets 2, 3rd gets 1, and 4th gets none. Total points determine winners.

4. Race Rules
Races start with a rolling start. A false start results in a warning or exclusion. Riders are penalized for dangerous riding or interfering with others.

5. Team Speedway
In team competitions, multiple riders race for a team, and points are accumulated across all heats to determine the winning team.
